Most Rev. Robert F. Vasa has contributed articles to Lay Witness magazine and Faith Basics and has also contributed to CUF’s Sunday homily service.

Bishop Vasa attended seminary at St. Thomas Seminary College in Denver and Holy Trinity Seminary at the University of Dallas. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1976.

He completed post-graduate studies at the Gregorian University in Rome, where he graduated in 1981. Upon returning to the United States, Bishop Vasa was appointed as Chancellor and Judge of the Tribunal in the Diocese of Lincoln. In 1985 he was appointed as the Judicial Vicar of the diocese.

After serving as pastor of a newly formed parish from 1990–1996, Bishop Vasa was appointed the Vicar General of the diocese, where he remained until his appointment as Bishop of Baker, Oregon, in 2000.

Bishop Vasa serves as Episcopal Moderator for the Catholic Medical Association (CMA). In this capacity, he has worked closely with many physicians and health care providers on a variety of health care issues. He has frequently addressed the conferences of the CMA and has a great interest in medical/moral issues.

Having helped established two self-insured health plans for dioceses, Bishop Vasa has a very good grasp of medical procedures and terminology. Due to his work on health plans, he is knowledgeable about the health insurance industry and the ways in which that industry directly funds and promotes the culture of death.
